2015 heralds the dawn of an exciting new era at CMV with the addition of the gleaming Magellan to their expanding ocean fleet of traditional cruise liners.
Magellan will debut in March 2015 lining up alongside the much loved Marco Polo, celebrating fifty golden years of ocean travel, the alluring Azores, also new for 2015, and the stylish and hugely impressive Astor bringing a new dimension to cruising with CMV.
The emphasis will still be very much on exceptional value and while retaining the important smaller ship benefits, she will be adding a little more contemporary chic to the traditional experience.
At 46,052grt and just over 220 metres long, Magellan is still a small-to-mid-sized cruise liner by today’s standards, and will be carrying about 1,250 passengers compared to the mega liners which carry upwards of 6,000 passengers.
Magellan was originally built in 1985 and in 2010 underwent an amazing Euro 55 million upgrade and refit. She is indeed an impressive cruise liner retaining many traditional aspects while also introducing a stylish contemporary twist.
Magellan’s maiden programme with CMV commences in March 2015 and she will be home porting in London Tilbury alongside Marco Polo and will also be cruising from Newcastle-upon-Tyne and Dundee too - a new departure port for us in 2015.
